BusinessLink Webmaster is a web site management utility, used to modify web site content.
When executed, it connects to the BusinessLink webserver and synchronizes the directory
content of the Webserver and the remote PC. Execution Once either TCP/IP or dialup has made a successful connection with BusinessLink/REMOTE, the following steps will properly set up Webmaster on a PC running Windows '95. 1. Obtain the Webmaster archive from BusinessLink Technical Support personnel. The default BusinessLink/WEB web site comes with one symlink ('symbolic link') already in place, for WEB (this is discussed below); if you have a BusinessLink Entry webserver, you only have this one symlink (WEB) available. If you have a BusinessLink Strategic or BusinessLink eServer system, and are planning a complex web site or need more than one person to work on the web site files at the same time, then it may be best to create additional symlinks. As needed, BusinessLink Technical Support will assist you by setting up the additional symlinks on the CoProcessor side. (For a complete discussion on the use of symlinks in Checking In and Checking Out, please refer to the section titled 'Check Out' in 'Modifying the Web Site', below.) 2. Copy the Webmaster archive to the C:\ABREMOTE directory of the PC to be used for editing the web site files, and execute it. Extract its contents into the ABREMOTE directory. 3. Create a shortcut to AWSYNC.EXE and place in BusinessLink/REMOTE program group. For convenience, you may want to put a shortcut directly on the Windows '95 desktop: 4. Create a subdirectory called C:\WEB on the remote PC's hard drive. Once installed, execute the shortcut created for Webmaster. This will present you with the option of 'Check In', 'Check Out', and 'Exit'. Click the button 'Check Out' to connect to the webserver and transfer the BusinessLink default web site contents to the remote PC. Once complete, the PC's directory C:\WEB should now contain all the files on the webserver. From here, HTML changes can be made locally while the webserver still remains online. Once your HTML changes are complete, start Webmaster and select 'Check In' to update the webserver. ** End of Technical Support Bulletin ** |
